My pick of the most Instagrammable cafes in Cape Town: Green Route

The best decor, plants, Buddha bowls or Dirty Chais? How do you choose the most Instagrammable cafe in Cape Town when there are so many?

What’s your favourite cafe? Nourish’d Cafe in Obs was recently voted the 13th most Instagrammable cafe …. in …. the …. world. So let’s have some fun and vote for our own most Instagrammable cafes in Cape Town – they must be sustainable, eco-conscious and photogenic. Let’s go!

It’s no coincidence that all my favourite cafes are close by and a feast for the eyes. Plus the locations are amazing: at Ohana Cafe in Kalk Bay you are sitting next to the sea. Apart from the brilliant Buddha bowl I’m a big fan of their dirty chai, accompanied by a famous Ohana Bun. The biggest, stickiest, most caramellist bun you ever did see. Best shared.

Lots of upcycled furniture, don’t ask for a straw and other sustainable signs at this relaxed cafe.

Then there’s Harvest Cafe in Muizenberg (not the one in town) with its mix of cool surfboards (sustainable) and decor from 8 degrees South, or is it 9 degrees North? Just joking.

It’s just so cool you can’t help but take great photos here.

Dalebrook Cafe in Kalk Bay is in a lovely old building opposite the subway to Dalebrook tidal pool and the interior is a dream. Mosey over to the pool for a dip and then tuck into something healthy (or not so healthy) at Dalebrook Cafe.

Also in Kalk Bay is the charming The Courtyard Cafe – with sea views on one side and shady trees on the other this cafe serves up delicious vegan and vegetarian food along with vegan wine made by a Kalk Bay local, Catherine Marshall.

Speaking of Instagram moments, on Garden Day SA Kalk Bay was full of flowers as all the shops in the village decorated their shopfronts. Possibly the best village on Garden Day – is that a category?
